Special Activities

Music in our Elementary School consists of seven related elements which are:

• Singing 
• Audition
• Music Theory and Ear Training
• Composition
• Production of Music
• History and Literature

The program includes Music, Songs, and Dances from other cultures as well as more traditional ones.

Children then have the opportunity to learn musical improvisation and develop a sense of pitch, timing and melody. Mastering these components provides the children with a medium with which he may creatively express himself.d English speaking students. The goal is to understand and communicate essential Italian in order to enjoy and appreciate Italian life and culture. They also learn writing skills including grammar and spelling.

Art is an essential part of our program. Children are encouraged to create their own individual drawings, paintings and 3D works. Art History and Art Production are also explored in the program. With a variety of techniques and media at their disposal, the children may choose appropriate forms of artistic expression. The Art Program ends with Clay Modeling in the art Studio.

Physical Education is an integral part of the school program. It aims to promote lifelong participation in physical activity and commitment to health and fitness through enjoyment, skill acquisition and an increased physical awareness and understanding. A varied program of learning experiences is designed to encourage appreciation, knowledge and understanding  through independent and interdependent learning so that students realize their own potential and appreciate the performance of others.

The Library serves to support the child’s natural desire to learn. Our Library is used to teach students how to use, handle and respect books and provides students with positive reading experiences and supports personal reading for pleasure.

Students in grades 1^st to 5^th participate in weekly Library classes, which center on creating confident and enthusiastic readers and to promote the skills necessary to become independent life – long learners.

Students begin learing essential computer concepts in a safe and monitored environment. They are taught to do research using different sources of information and systems, tocollect, to elaborate and present information using various computer software: becominh critical thinkers when selecting solutions to problems.

The students in our classrooms are from many different countries. These students are fully immersed into an English speaking class. When children come from other countries we try our best to make them feel at home and loved from the very first day of school.

An ESL class is offered to non – English speaking students and beginner level students in our school’s Language Lab. The goal is to learn basic and advanced communication skills to integrate socially within the community and to understand and use academic English in order to succeed in the school curriculum.\

Italian as a Second Language

ISL is offered to non – Italian and English speaking students. The goal is to understand and communicate essential Italian in order to enjoy and appreciate Italian life and culture. They also learn writing skills including grammar and spelling.
